Wales - 2nd Anniversary

We made it :) 2 years and counting :) We can't believe how fast it has gone, but we are so looking forward to all the years ahead!!
We celebrated on the actual day with dinner and a show - Sister Act lived up to all it's rave reviews and was a lot of fun!
The weekend celebrations took place in Wales at a golf/spa resort called Celtic Manor Lodge. It has a really beautiful setting and we did some great exploring and chilling out. We caught an early train on Saturday - which was the hardest part of the weekend and we were at our destination by 9:30 - so we had the whole day ahead.
After a walk around the grounds and the golf courses and a spot of lunch at the clubhouse, we treated ourselves to a little afternoon zzzz before enjoying the pool and jacuzzi facilities, followed by a yummy dinner.
Sunday was again a chiled one with a little lie-in, a bike ride, some more pooling and jacuzzi-ing and last but by no means least a massage before heading home :)
A great weekend all round!!

Edinburgh Military Tattoo '09

This time it was to Edinburgh that we travelled together with the Geretto's and the Dwarlings. We boarded the early Saturday morning train bound for Edinburgh and 4 hours later we were there.
Edinburgh weaved it's magic and in no time the new Edinburgh recruits were hooked on the history, beauty and charm of the city. Saturday afternoon was spent wandering the streets discovering all that the alleyways, nooks and crannies had to offer as well as sampling some of the entertaining and not so entertaining street performers that were visiting for the festival.
And then it was to the Tattoo and once again it was an amazing experience for me and left the first-timers with their jaws open as they took in the tradition, precision and emotion that is tied up in the Tattoo. Th highlight was definitely the Top Secret Swiss Drummers!
Sunday involved exploring further afield towards the botanical gardens and harbour with the assistance of an open-top bus. The tour of the royal yacht Brittanica was enjoyed by all before we wandered the Royal Mile before dinner.
Monday morning we explored the castle and gained an insight into the history of Scotland, it's Royalty and it's realtionship to England - just what the history-orientated van der Watt's enjoy!
And then it was to return to England again via train taking in the sights of the Scottish countryside.
Another great weekend enjoyed by all :)
